Vian Bar Stool

The Vian Bar Stool has a contoured seat in black vegan leather on a cacao-stained timber frame with an integrated timber footrest. The seat height is 66cm, sized for a kitchen bench of around 90cm. It arrives fully assembled.

A timber footrest rather than a metal one is the detail that dates this design well. Metal rails scuff to bare steel within a year or two of daily use, which is visible from across the room; timber wears to a slightly paler patch that reads as age rather than damage.

Vegan leather is the practical surface for a stool that will be used at meals. It wipes rather than absorbs, which is what you want under a bowl of anything, and it does not need the conditioning that keeps real leather from cracking in a room with a hot oven in it.

The compact footprint is the reason to choose this over an upholstered stool in a small kitchen. There is no padding overhanging the frame, so the stool tucks fully under the bench and takes up nothing when it is not in use.
