The Seb Round Coffee Table in Rope is 75cm across and 39cm high, with a chamfered edge under the top. The chamfer makes a thick top look thinner from a seated position. At 75cm it is a table for a seating group rather than a long room.

Seventy-five centimetres is a small coffee table, and that is often the right answer. A large table in front of a two seater blocks the walkway and collects everything in the room; a small round one is reachable from every seat and leaves the floor readable.

At 39cm high it sits close to most sofa seat heights, which is where a coffee table should be. Much higher and it starts to feel like a dining table; much lower and putting a cup down becomes a reach.

The caveat is capacity. This holds a tray and two cups. If the coffee table is where the laptop, the remote and the magazines live, this is the wrong size and a larger rectangle is the honest answer.
