An oval is the most efficient dining shape for a narrow space. It seats like a rectangle of the same length but gives back the corners, which is where people bump into a table walking past it on a terrace.

At 200cm by 100cm this seats eight, and cast concrete is the reason it can live outside permanently. There is no oiling, no covering and no seasonal maintenance, which is what a timber table of this size would demand.

The caveat is the weight and the surface. This is very heavy, so position it once with help, and concrete is porous even sealed, so oil and wine want wiping straight away rather than later.
