Leon Side Table - Tobacco Ash

The Leon Side Table in Tobacco Ash is 48cm square and 44cm high, on a solid block base. At 44cm it sits a little below most seat heights, which puts a cup at hand rather than at elbow height. The base is closed rather than legged, so nothing collects underneath it.

The height is the decision here. A side table level with the arm of a chair looks tidy and is awkward to reach into; one slightly below the seat is where a hand naturally falls. At 44cm this sits in the second camp, which is the useful one.

A closed base rather than legs is the other difference worth noticing. There is no gap for a vacuum to miss and nothing for a foot to catch, and the table reads as a solid block, which balances a lightweight chair beside it.

The caveat is weight for its size. A closed base is heavier than four legs, so this is a piece to put where you want it rather than one to move around the room with the seasons.
