Large Indian Old Wheel

The Large Indian Old Wheel is a salvaged timber wheel from an Indian animal cart, mounted on an iron stand for display. Its age splits, worn grain and uneven surface come from its working life. Each wheel is listed separately, labelled A to E.

Objects like this were built to work, not to be looked at, and the wear you can see is the record of that. It is also the reason an old wheel holds attention in a way that a newly made decorative piece usually cannot.

The iron stand does the practical job of keeping it upright, so it can sit on the floor against a wall, in a wide hallway or at the end of a room. Give it room to breathe. Crowded in among other things, it loses the outline that makes it worth having.
