Haven Table Lamp

This table lamp has a solid mango wood base and a pressed paper shade with an acrylic inner and a wire frame. The shade measures 41cm across and 25cm high, over a base 50cm tall. It weighs 4.9kg in a white finish.

A pressed paper shade with an acrylic liner is a two-layer construction doing two jobs. The paper gives the texture and the warm colour cast; the acrylic behind it stops the globe showing through as a hot spot and protects the paper from the heat.

That makes the shade the part to care for. Paper does not tolerate a damp cloth, so dusting is the only cleaning available, and a lamp like this belongs somewhere it will not be splashed.

Mango wood is an open-grained timber and it varies considerably between pieces. The base will not match a photograph exactly, which is the nature of the material rather than a fault, and it is why a solid timber base reads warmer than a stained composite.
