Gwen Sofa Bed

The Gwen Sofa Bed in Copeland Olive is 183cm wide, 101.5cm deep and 90cm high, upholstered, and converts to a bed. At 183cm it is a two seater rather than a three, which is the honest size for a sofa bed. The mechanism folds out from the seat.

A sofa bed is two compromises pretending to be one piece, and the useful question is which one it favours. At 101.5cm deep and 90cm high this is built as a sofa first, with a bed inside it, so it is comfortable for the fifty weeks a year nobody sleeps on it.

That depth is what makes the conversion possible. A shallower sofa cannot hold a folded mattress, which is why a slim sofa bed is always a bad bed.

The caveat is clearance. Folding out needs about a metre in front of the sofa, so measure the room in its unfolded state rather than the footprint on the floor.
