Bailey Concrete Pear

The Bailey Concrete Pear is a decorative pear cast in grey concrete, available in three sizes. Grouped together the three make a simple, sculptural display. Quoted heights exclude the stalk.

Fruit as sculpture is an old idea, and concrete is an unexpectedly good material for it. The weight and the cool grey surface strip away any sense of the decorative-fruit-bowl cliche, leaving something closer to a small piece of modernist sculpture.

The three sizes are meant to be used together. A single pear on a console reads as an ornament; three at graduated heights reads as a considered arrangement, and the repetition of one shape at different scales is what makes it work. Because they are handmade, the stalk varies from piece to piece, which is why the stated heights measure the body only. Expect the actual height with stalk to run a little over the figure quoted.
