Axis Table Lamp

The Axis Table Lamp in Black is 40cm wide, 25.4cm deep and 79cm high overall, with the shade offset from the base. The base is narrower than the shade is wide, so the light reaches past the table edge. At 79cm it is a tall lamp.

An offset shade is doing something a centred one cannot. It puts the light where you need it while the base sits where there is room, which is the difference between a lamp that works beside a chair and one that has to go behind it.

At 79cm high this is tall for a table lamp, so it suits a console or a desk rather than a bedside, where the shade would sit above your head when reading.

The caveat is stability. An offset shade puts the weight to one side of the base, so a narrow surface or a knock will tip it more easily than a symmetrical lamp. Keep it back from the edge.
