Atlas Decagon Side Table - Matt Ocean Marble

The Atlas Decagon Side Table in Matt Ocean Marble is marble throughout, on a ten-sided pillar base 240mm in diameter. The chamfered top is 30mm thick with a 130mm overhang, and the base stands 450mm. It measures 48cm in every dimension.

Ten sides is a specific choice rather than a decorative one. A true cylinder would read as a plain pedestal and a square would put a corner at ankle height; a decagon catches light on each narrow face, so the base has depth and shadow without a hard edge anywhere on it.

The 130mm overhang is what makes the table usable. It gives you somewhere to put a hand or set a glass right at the rim without the base being in the way, and it is what stops a small marble table looking like a block. Ocean marble is a cooler, greener stone with visible veining, sealed in a matt resin so it holds the stone look rather than taking on a wet polish. At 48cm cubed it is heavy for its size, which is worth knowing before you plan to move it about.
