Atlas Decagon Dining Table - Matt Ocean Marble

The Atlas Decagon Dining Table in Matt Ocean Marble has a 30mm-thick top on a ten-sided pillar base, with 720mm of clearance underneath. The top overhangs the base by 375mm. It is 120cm across and ships knocked down.

The overhang figure is the one that determines whether a pedestal dining table actually works. At 375mm there is room for a chair to pull in and for knees to go under without meeting the base, which is the failure that makes a lot of sculptural tables uncomfortable to eat at.

Seven hundred and twenty millimetres of clearance underneath is generous, and combined with a 30mm top it means the table sits at a conventional dining height without feeling thin. Ocean marble is a cooler, greener stone than the brown-veined varieties, which suits a room with grey or blue in it. Being solid marble it arrives in pieces for assembly, which is the sensible way to move this much stone.
